Open Mic gets some press!

The Stivers Jazz Orchestra is comprised of 7-12 graders from Stivers School for the Arts. Under the direction of Claude Lucien Thomas since 1995, they have been awarded grand prize honors and consistently perform at a near-professional level. At Stivers School for the Arts, students learn all facets of the arts through participation, not only on stage, but also behind the scenes.This is an award winning group worth seeing live!
The Conductor, Director, Arranger, Claude Lucien Thomas studied music in Toledo, Ohio under the guidance of famed Oliver Nelson disciple Augustus T. Walker and master teacher Lou Marini Sr
Mr. Thomas received and accepted a music scholarship to the Ohio State University completing undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate programs. During the undergraduate years, Mr. Thomas went to work with the Ray Charles Orchestra, later he would come back to the university to teach Jazz Big Band. Other teaching and performing experiences include Professor of Saxophone at Kenyon College and soloist in the Knox County Symphony in Gambier Ohio. He also performed with such groups as the Temptations, Four Tops, and O'Jays.
Mr. Thomas recently completed a Specialist Degree in arranging from the Berklee College of Music and is completing his Professional Degree in arranging and film scoring. He is the Director of the Stivers Wind Orchestra, Concert Bands, and the Award Winning Jazz Orchestra.
The Stivers Jazz Orchestra has won First Place or Grand Prize awards at every Jazz Festival entered, culminating in winning the prestigious Berklee College of music JazzFest in 2008 and 2004. The Stivers Jazz Orchestra has appeared as the premier act at the Tri C invitational in Cleveland, Ohio. The group has opened for major jazz artists, including David Beniot, Maynard Ferguson, Paul Ferguson, Derrick Gardner, Mulgrew Miller, Oliver Nelson, Roberta Piket, Dianne Shuur, Terrell Stafford, Ray Vega, and Steve Wilson.

Greetings Everone!
I would just like to take this moment and thank all oif the musicians and everyone else who showed up to last Wednesday's Open-Mic. We had a record amount of people in attendance (230 is the unofficial count). I will be uploading photes and audio of the event here shortly...Thank you onve again, Clinton County!

Clinton County Live! is proud to announce that this Wednesday at the General Denver we will be recording a live album of original music written and performed by local artists. This is the first event of its kind in Wilmington. The album will be available soon so check back to the site often for details. You are invited to come be a part of a wonderful evening of live music, great food, and drinks. Bring a friend or three) I look forward to seeing everyone there on Thanksgiving Eve. Thank you once again for your support of live music and the arts in Clinton County.
